Layering isn’t just a case of stacking a bunch of sounds on top of each other and hoping it sounds bigger and better. Doing this will only create more mixing issues and can cause sounds to cancel each other out. We don’t want that.
We want layering done correctly, whether that’s layering your Trance leads, your Trance percussion or Trance bass line, so that when done correctly you will transform your track from an amateur sound to a professional one while also adding heaps of depth to your mix.
Those label A&Rs will hear if your track is lacking depth and is appropriately layered. So it’s your call on if you want to minimise those rejection emails.
The methods and techniques taught in this in-depth tutorial changed my whole way of mixing and massively improved my overall sound. You will be kicking yourself once you watch this wondering why you never thought of it.
– Adding depth to your presets/sounds.
– Understanding where depth is needed.
– Manipulating presets for better layering.
– Auditioning Layers.
– Understanding which layers work together & why.
– Layering leads, Percussion, Pads & FX.
– Working on layering combinations.
– Working with EQ to add more dynamics.
– Working with Waveforms for better layering.
& much, much more!

One of my favorite tutorials so far. ive applied some of the techniques in this tutorial to my productions and ive seen great results, highly recommend!
Words cannot describe how this tutorial has shown me ways of getting my sounds and eventually the mix sound from "good" to "incredible".
I'll be honest, i make trance music now for 2 decades now and having the Mixdown series i was kind of affraid not to gain that much anymore.
Well, i was wrong! Techniques in here makes you instantly grasp WHY your soundscape isn't on par with other productions out there. I can honestly say that this tutorial combined with the mixdown one has been really giving my tracks the sound i was after... and the best thing yet, now t hat i also know WHY , each track after will improve, period. Yes ,i am that confident now. No, not bragging at all, but sincerely over the moon what this knowledge does when implented as should!
And it made me really think of alternative ways to experiment with.
Now i am so eager for the "Thinking outside the box-series"!
I had no problem watching this 4 times in a row (his voice is not annoying btw ;) )and implementing every single technique in my tracks as Allan really shows every single step and tells you why ,which means you understand the PURPOSE instead of just implementing the technique.
What really stands out to me, is that Allan adviced me to buy this after listening to a track i sent. He could easily tell me i should buy his whole course, but he didn't!
To me that's a beautifull gesture. Yes, he is running a firm, but he also is "just a guy".

I purchased this tutorial on the basis that I would hopefully top up my knowledge of layering and depth by around 10% or so. Nope! Wrong again. I learnt at least 50% on top of what I already knew. I discovered tips and techniques I hadn't even considered. For anyone contemplating an AM tutorial, I sincerely recommend it. I have 12 now. Yes, 12. They have literally transformed my work.
Cant fault Allanäó»s tutorials at all highly recommended! As a intermediate to advanced producer now with releases on good labels already Iv always been curious about his videos. Iv bought several as they are very good indeed. Iv no problem watching things I already know but its the good examples and extra depth he goes to in the videos that give you the ahhhh ok moment il try that. Great to see someone explain everything without holding anything back not enough people help each other in music production with tips and inside tricks which I don't agree on and help all my buddies so its great to see videos like Allanäó»s that are very technical giving insight into what we all know is not an easy passion creating good music! I will definitely be buying more in the future
Another great tutorial with some interesting ideas and techniques on layering bass, pads, leads and drums. In fact you can apply these techniques to any instruments to give more depth and texture and ensure you cover the full range of frequencies in your mixes. Cheers Allan!!
