Words cannot describe how this tutorial has shown me ways of getting my sounds and eventually the mix sound from "good" to "incredible".
I'll be honest, i make trance music now for 2 decades now and having the Mixdown series i was kind of affraid not to gain that much anymore.
Well, i was wrong! Techniques in here makes you instantly grasp WHY your soundscape isn't on par with other productions out there. I can honestly say that this tutorial combined with the mixdown one has been really giving my tracks the sound i was after... and the best thing yet, now t hat i also know WHY , each track after will improve, period. Yes ,i am that confident now. No, not bragging at all, but sincerely over the moon what this knowledge does when implented as should!
And it made me really think of alternative ways to experiment with.
Now i am so eager for the "Thinking outside the box-series"!
I had no problem watching this 4 times in a row (his voice is not annoying btw 😉 )and implementing every single technique in my tracks as Allan really shows every single step and tells you why ,which means you understand the PURPOSE instead of just implementing the technique.
What really stands out to me, is that Allan adviced me to buy this after listening to a track i sent. He could easily tell me i should buy his whole course, but he didn't!
To me that's a beautifull gesture. Yes, he is running a firm, but he also is "just a guy".

Acid is an area that many people struggle with and in some tracks, many producers leave it out. This is another tutorial where Allan breaks it down, explains the "why" of each acid, and he keeps it simple. He goes into main acids, acid stabs, side chaining, acid synth tweaking, automation and where to site each midi to get it play right. The biggest thing I picked up from this tutorial is how one acid stab with proper effects and midi note placement can make a huge impact to a track. This is another one I continue to watch because I always pick up something new. If you are new to production, struggling with acid or want to see Allans approach on acid production, this is a great tutorial to build a foundation and learn good techniques.
I have been a producer on/off 10 years love allans tutorials, great for inspiration when you hitting a blank wall my go to videos to reset and learn.
Ive used ableton for 10 years and learned a new tip within the first ten minutes so has something for all levels. Will be following this track concept in bleton all the way. Fantastic work as always.
Mate only got about 40 mins in on the lead tutorial and already think I've been going about it all wrong for years, so much simpler working with a sub pad and obviously sticking to scales. I normally play bits on the keyboard till it sounds right but often get stuck as I progress through the riff. But this makes more sense 🙂 looking forward to getting home later to watch the rest before I check out the Acid vid
Cheers mate 😉
I purchased this tutorial on the basis that I would hopefully top up my knowledge of layering and depth by around 10% or so. Nope! Wrong again. I learnt at least 50% on top of what I already knew. I discovered tips and techniques I hadn't even considered. For anyone contemplating an AM tutorial, I sincerely recommend it. I have 12 now. Yes, 12. They have literally transformed my work.
I am usually kinda skeptic when shopping around for tutorials, but after the first couple of videos I've purchased, I knew these Mixdown videos were ones not to miss. Allan goes in depth and you can tell he put a great effort in explaining everything from mixdown tips to techniques. Without exaggerating, Allan Morrow tutorials are the mecca of trance tutorials, I definitely recommend.
