How To Make A Classic Trance Melody & Breakdown
Welcome to the third episode of the “How To Make A Classic Trance Track” series, where I will be creating a track in the style of a Classic Trance track without the use of hardware!
In this episode, ill be creating the melody and breakdown for the track from scratch!
First, I will make an inspiring Trance leads sound from scratch so you can see the sound design of how a classic style Trance lead is created. Then I will create all the musical elements for the breakdown, such as the melody, progression, pads and bass effect.
After this, I will start to map out the elements and refine the sound through careful sound design and automation to help build the breakdown and tension.
I will then take some time mixing down the break to make sure it all sits nicely in the mix, explaining everything I am doing and why along the way.

Yes. Please don’t restrict yourself from the knowledge inside this tutorial due to having another DAW. All the techniques you will learn in these videos can be implemented into your own DAW.
What software synths or plugins are used in this video?

Classic trance melody
It's nice to see a main lead sound made from one oscillator and for it to sound strong. Learned also how to create more movement in the lead using a second filter which I have already implemented in my latest track. It's always beneficial to learn new ideas and tricks to pull out more of an existing sound. Very easy to understand and implement to

Expectations Exceeded
Big Fan of AM Studios Tutorials, especially these start 2 finish courses (which it is fast looking like this will be). Classic trance is very highly debated topic, can it still be appreciated? Would it do well in a modern trance world, on top of that there seems to be such a wide sound range that is considered the golden era of trance. 1st thing I did prior to buying was listen to audio sample on the product page, this definitely got my creative mind excited. Sounded like the old P. U. S. H style melody, simple but effective! Upon purchasing the tutorial I was surprised to find that this had 3 videos, usually it is just 1, interesting! The 3 videos consist of 1 short preface to the lesson, a run down of what to expect and why. The 2nd is the main event. A 2hr 45 min masterclass in writing a melody, creating pads, loads of sound design, Zebra 2 used but I have been able to mimic all techniques in both ANA2 and Sylenth1 so no really issues following along and achieving my version of the sounds used, and putting my own mark on them. The building of the breakdown and build, using percussion, midbass, risers and crashes etc. And then a 3rd video showing the after thoughts, any final tweaks that have been made after the filming of the main video, to ensure that the series flows with no stone unturned. The level of detail and amount of time and thought that has gone into making this something special is clear. Absolute 5 star tutorial. From newbies (like me) to those that have been at it a while I would recommend this! So jam packed with information! Pure class, and i'd go as far as saying levelled up massively from the previous series. Something special indeed. My girlfriend misses me hahaha. Cheers Allan
