Welcome to this Hard Trance Kick & Bass tutorial!
Getting a Hard Trance Kick & Bass sounding right can be tricky as if it’s not done correctly, it can very easily border on the line of sounding amateur and lack fullness and richness to the sounds. You want it punching hard but also retain that warmth and rawness without it sounding too clinical.
In this tutorial, I will show you how I create a Hard Trance Kick & Bass from scratch. I’ll be going through each layer in a great amount of detail, and explaining the processing and thought process behind everything I do in real-time (nothing pre-planned, so you get to see everything!)
I’ll show you how to create the bass sounds and patterns from scratch so that you have a solid understanding of each of the bass layers and how they compliment each other.
Check below for a full in-depth list of everything I go over. This is not an overview! This is every part of the kick and bass in great detail!
⬤ Choosing the right sounding Kick & processing it for that Hard Trance sound. (Characteristics of Kick and processing all explained).
⬤ Creating your unique bass pattern.
⬤ Creating your bass layer sounds from scratch.

⬤ Going through the full effects chain in detail for the kick and basses (and the reasons why each effect is added).
⬤ Layering the basses and getting them to sit right in the mix so they sound rich and full.
⬤ Understanding where to place your layers in the frequency ranges.
⬤ Sitting your bass layers frequencies in the stereo field.
⬤ Creating atmosphere and movement with your bass layers.

Yes. Please don’t restrict yourself from the knowledge inside this tutorial due to having another DAW. All the techniques you will learn in these videos you can be implemented into your own DAW using your own unique DAWs plugins.
***Please note – You can use any synth/plugins or DAW of your choice to create a similar sound to the one done in this video. The techniques are described to you in such a way that you are able to implement the same techniques into your own work very easily.
I really liked the way that Allan chose sounds in the session from a selection of sounds available for the tutorial.
The explanation is very clear on what needs to be achieved and being able to watch it offline is massive bonus.
I normally produce frenchcore and terror but saw AM Studios and thought I'd have a play. Within one week of starting the tutorial I have built a whole track around the kick bass.
Really impressed with the quality of the video also.
